VISA REQUIREMENTS

IMPORTANT!

Conditions are constantly changing! Please take the time to double-check any information related to your travel to Bulgaria. Good sources include the webpage of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry, your country’s embassy in Bulgaria or the Bulgarian Embassy in your country.

If you are holding a Schengen visa you don't need a separate visa for Bulgaria. All Schengen visas allow you to cross the country's border. You can stay for up to 90 days in a six-month period without a separate Bulgarian visa, under a visa-free agreement valid as of January 25, 2012.

Bulgaria also recognizes short stay or transit visas issued by Romania, Croatia, and Cyprus. If you have such a visa you can enter and stay in Bulgaria, in addition to the country that issued the visa, for up to 90 days in any six-month period, without the need to obtain a separate Bulgarian short-stay visa.

Travelers who hold a Bulgarian visa cannot travel to any other country on that visa.
